Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico and is an American-Mexican actor. She also sings. She was raised by her mother within the USA. She was subjected to racial remarks and made to feel unwanted. In the ninth grade, after a school audition, where she received high praise for her voice and acoustics, she began to gain confidence. The experience not only boosted her self-confidence but also changed the direction she wanted to go in her career. In 1992 she graduated with her master's degree from the city's Julliard School. She began her career at the age of 23 in Paul Simon's The Capeman on Broadway and You've Got Mail in film. In the Broadway original production of Spamalot, she played The Lady of The Lake which won the Tony Award as well as high praise from critics. In the following year she was cast in the role of Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her gain more fame. Also, she is a well-known singer and has released an extended play. She is an activist who strives in the cause of LGBT equality.
